Events from my day today reminded me that that we have, indeed, been raised by the system to be individualist. We’ve been reared to compete against each other, to be territorial, to prioritize our own self-interests over the collective good. We’ve been molded by the system into thinking that collective action, unity, and common good isn’t “in,” it’s not beneficial for our own self-interests. Working together will never achieve or amount to anything.

What we tend to forget is that, throughout history, no one person, alone, was able to introduce substantial change. True, there may have been exceptional figures/personas in history, but they’ve always been backed by groups, collectives, movements.

In the quest for social justice and meaningful change, to work alone, individually, is to ultimately, utterly fail.
